Appreciation post: That $300 therapy session that saved my relationship with my daughter

Everyone says birth mothers should just move on, but I spent $300 on a single therapy session three months ago and it changed everything. My daughter is 16 now and wanted to meet me, but I was terrified I'd mess it up. The therapist helped me see that keeping secrets was hurting both of us more than the truth ever could. We met at a coffee shop in Cincinnati last month and it went way better than I thought. Has anyone else spent money on counseling that actually helped them talk to their kid?
