Tried watching a popular show with the audio description on by accident
I clicked the wrong language setting on Netflix last weekend and ended up watching the first two episodes of that new crime drama with audio description. At first I was annoyed but then I noticed I picked up on way more visual details than usual. My partner came in and we both kept watching with it on for the whole season. Granted it was a weird experience but I caught things I would have missed otherwise. Has anyone else accidentally changed a setting and actually liked the result?

Thomas was right about the tension thing... except I'm the guy who once spoiled the ending of a movie for myself by reading the reviews on the way to the theater. The audio description actually helped me catch that the detective was wearing mismatched socks in episode three which turned out to be a clue about his secret double life... but I was so focused on the voices I missed the actual murder weapon reveal. Guess my brain just can't handle two things at once... or even one thing most days.

Doesn't the audio description kind of ruin the storytelling though? In my experience half the tension comes from figuring out what's happening visually.
