That hyped crime drama I binged this weekend turned out to be a total snooze...

I finally got around to watching "The Watcher" after seeing it everywhere online, and I gave up after 4 episodes because nothing actually happened. Has anyone else felt let down by a show that everyone was raving about?

Is the whole streaming model just built around selling you a trailer rather than an actual show? Because that's exactly what you're describing, and I think that cousin connection is perfect proof. It's like everyone is so desperate to be in on the "next big thing" that they'll hype up anything with a decent poster and a couple of famous actors in it. You see it with movies too, all marketing and no payoff, like that big budget sci-fi thing last year that was basically just light beams and confused looks for two hours. The hype machine runs on momentum, not quality, and by the time you realize you've been tricked, they've already moved on to selling you the next empty box.

my cousin actually worked on that show and even she said it was boring. I think this whole thing is part of a bigger trend where streaming services pump out stuff that looks good on paper but has no real story. It reminds me of how every new restaurant in my town gets 50 yelp reviews before anyone even eats there. people just want to be part of the hype so bad they forget to check if the thing is actually good.
