Rewatched The Wire after 5 years and it's basically a different show now

I first binged The Wire back in 2018 and thought it was just okay, decent cop drama. Last month I gave it another shot and couldn't believe what I missed the first time. The way each season builds on the last with all those small details about the city and the systems was totally lost on me at 24. The difference was that I was paying attention to the street level stuff before and now I see the whole political angle connecting everything. Has anyone else had a totally different experience revisiting a show after a long break?

Ha, yeah I had the exact same thing with Breaking Bad. First watch I was like "cool chemistry teacher turns badass." Second watch I was like "oh this guy is actually a terrible person from episode one." It's wild how age changes what you pick up on.
