My buddy Rich changed how I watch old shows after a chat last Tuesday

I was telling him about rewatching The Office for the 4th time... and he said I should try watching it on 1.5x speed. At first I thought that was crazy but I gave it a shot on episode 3 of season 2. It actually makes the jokes land faster and cuts out those awkward pauses. Has anyone else tried speeding up a show they've already seen?

I have to say, that sounds like a terrible idea to me. Speeding up a show messes with the timing and the natural flow of the scenes. Those "awkward pauses" in The Office are part of what makes it funny, they let the cringe sink in and build the joke. Watching it faster would just make everything feel rushed and shallow, like you're trying to finish your meal as fast as possible instead of actually tasting it. I get wanting to save time on a show you've seen before, but at that point, why even bother watching at all? You'd be better off just listening to a plot summary on YouTube if you're that pressed for time.
