My barber's throwaway line about second seasons stuck with me

Honestly, I was just getting a trim in Austin last week and my barber, Marcus, asked what I was watching. I said I was halfway through a show I liked but kept losing interest in. He said, 'The second season is where you find out if a show loves you back or just likes your money.' That hit different for me because I realized I binge shows for the comfort, not the plot. Does anyone else power through a weak season just because you already invested 10 hours in the characters?
