Friend ripped into my show choices - actually helped

My buddy called me out last month. Said I only watch "safe" shows. Procedurals, comedies, the same 3 streaming shows on repeat. He was right. I got defensive at first. Then I realized I hadn't started anything new in like 6 months. So I tried his suggestion - Dark on Netflix. German sci-fi. Weird. Confusing. Had to watch with subtitles. Actually loved it after 3 episodes. Now I'm mixing it up more. Anyone else get called out like that and actually change their whole watching habit?

Did you end up watching the whole series? I had the same thing happen with my brother calling me out for never watching anything in another language and now I can't stop recommending foreign shows to everyone.

I read somewhere that subtitles actually help you focus more on the show.
