Can we talk about shows that take a whole season to get going?

Some folks say if a show doesn't hook you fast, drop it, but others think the slow build is part of the charm, so what's your rule?

Honestly, that "slow build" charm has a limit though, right?

Watched my buddy force himself through a whole season of that space mining show because people said it got good. He kept complaining about the boring characters and confusing politics every week. The season finale finally had a big twist, but he said it felt like a chore to get there. Now he just drops a show if nothing clicks after four episodes.

My rule is three episodes, that's the test. @the_mason is right, a slow burn still needs a spark.
