Binged 'Dark' in German with subtitles vs. the English dub and the difference was night and day
The German audio had way more emotional weight in the first season, and the English dub sounded like they were reading a grocery list, so has anyone else noticed how much the original language changes the feel of a foreign show?

Used to be all about dubs honestly, just wanted to watch without reading. Then I tried Dark with the original German audio and it completely flipped my opinion. The way the actor says "Wo ist Mikkel?" in German just hits different, like you can feel the panic and confusion in his voice. In the English dub it sounded so flat, like he was asking about a missing sock. Really made me realize I was missing half the performance before.

Ngl, that's exactly what happened to me with a show called Babylon Berlin. I watched the first two episodes dubbed on Netflix and thought it was just okay. Then my buddy made me rewatch it in German with subs and holy crap, the whole vibe changed. The way the lead actress delivers lines in German has this raw desperation that the English voice actors just couldn't match. It was like watching a completely different show, made it way more intense and gripping.
