Binged a 12-season reality show in 3 weeks and now I hate my taste
I started watching this home renovation show on a whim last month, and before I knew it, I had crushed 12 seasons in 3 weeks. The first 6 seasons were amazing, but somewhere around season 8, I started noticing the same drama beats repeating. By season 11, I was just hate-watching it, and the finale was so predictable I laughed out loud. The thing that changed was my patience for filler content - I used to love the fluff, now I skip straight to the reveals. Has anyone else binged a show so hard it ruined the whole experience for you?

That's the thing about binging, it changes your brain chemistry in a weird way. Watching 12 seasons in 3 weeks means you never had time to miss the show, so the repetitive patterns hit way harder. I did this with a cooking competition show once and by the end I could predict every contestant's arc by episode 2. The filler stuff you used to enjoy is now just noise because your brain's reward system got totally fried. Honestly, taking a week off between seasons might save your love for the show.

Is it really that deep though? I binge shows all the time and I still get annoyed when they drag out obvious plot points. Maybe the problem is the show just gets repetitive after a while, not that your brain chemistry changed. I feel like "brain chemistry" gets thrown around for every little thing now. You probably just got bored because you saw the same formula 12 times in a row, not because you fried some reward system. Taking a week off would just make me forget half the characters names, not restore my enjoyment. Sometimes a show is just shallow and you notice it faster when you watch it all at once.
