Wheel builds got way faster once I switched from the old shop truing stand to a dial gauge setup
Back in 2015 at the shop in Fresno, a full wheel build took me about 90 minutes with the old Park stand and my eyes doing all the work. Last month I timed myself on the same 32 hole 3 cross pattern and it was down to 45 minutes. The change was adding a dial indicator with a magnetic base so I could actually see the runout in thousandths instead of guessing at a wobble. My hands still do the spoke wrench work but the gauge catches that last 0.5mm hop I used to chase forever. Curious how many of you still build by feel alone, or has the dial gauge taken over your bench too?
