Went to a co-op in Pittsburgh last week and saw a guy truing a wheel with zip ties

I don't know, is using a zip tie on a wheel really that different from using a toe strap or a shoelace in a pinch? People act like the guy was welding the spoke with a coat hanger or something. It's a temporary fix to get you home or to the shop, not some permanent structural modification. Half the stuff co-ops do is just old school resourcefulness, not a "death wish" like she's making it sound. Feels like an overreaction to something pretty minor.

Zip ties to true a wheel? That's terrifying and brilliant at the same time, like a bike mechanic with a death wish. I can't imagine trusting my ride to something I'd normally use to organize cables, but hey, if it works in a pinch I guess you gotta do what you gotta do. Honestly, Pittsburgh co-ops are wild, they just be making stuff up as they go.
