Used to think disc brake bleed kits were a waste of money...

For years I just took my bikes to the shop whenever the brakes felt spongy. Paid $45 each time and figured that was just the price of having good brakes. Then last month I messed up a bleed on a customer's MTB and had to redo it three times. Got so frustrated I finally bought a proper bleed kit from Jagwire for $60. First try on my own bike was messy but the second time I did my buddy's bike it came out perfect. Now I'm honestly mad at myself for not learning this years ago. Any of you guys use those cheap Amazon kits or should I stick with the name brand stuff?

Is it really that big of a deal though? I mean, paying $45 at a shop to get it done right and not having to clean up oily mess in my garage sounds kind of nice. Maybe if you're doing it every week it's worth it, but for most of us it's what, once a year? Idk, maybe I'm weird, but I'd rather just hand over cash and not worry about air bubbles in my brake lines.

Drew gets it. $45 is a steal to skip the mess and the headache of bleeding brakes in the driveway. Had a buddy try it himself last month and ended up with brake fluid all over his concrete and a soft pedal that took him two hours to fix.
