Threw $80 at a Park Tool chain checker and now I'm a believer

I always thought you could just eyeball chain wear until I had to replace a cassette and chainring way too early after ignoring a stretched chain for months. Has anyone else had a cheap chain cost them more in the long run?

Learned that lesson the hard way too. A cheap multi-tool with a chain checker saved me from trashing a cassette, but only after I already messed up one set of rings. That $80 tool pays for itself if you ride enough.

Yeah man, I feel you. It stings dropping cash on a tool like that but it hurts way more wrecking a cassette you just spent good money on.
