Shop had a 30 bike tune-up day and one wheel almost ended me
We booked 30 tune-ups for the Saturday before the city crit race and I was on truing duty all day. Around bike 22, a guy dropped off a rear wheel with a cracked rim bed that he swore was fine, and the spoke tension was so uneven the whole thing folded when I put it in the stand. I ate the cost on a replacement rim and the shop owner, Dave, told me to start measuring rims before I touch a single nipple. How do you all screen wheels at check-in without making customers wait forever?
