Overheard a guy at the co-op talking about serial numbers on frames
I was at Boston Bikes last week and some older mechanic was telling a customer that you can date a vintage frameset down to the month by the serial number. I never bothered to look up mine but I did when I got home, turns out my old Trek is from June 1985. It changed how I think about the bike, like it has a real history now. Anyone else ever dig into their frame's serial number and find something cool?

Oh man, serial numbers are cool but don't take that date as gospel. Trek especially reused numbers sometimes or stamped them weird. Might be more like a general year than an exact month.
