Derailleur hanger snapped 2 miles from home and I limped it back as a single speed
Was out on the greenway near Woodland Park on Sunday when the hanger on my commuter bent and then snapped clean off after I hit a pothole I saw way too late. I pulled the chain off the cogs by hand, shortened it with a quick link I keep taped under my seat, and rode the 2 miles back in one gear, which honestly rode better than it had any right to. Now I'm wondering if anyone has a favorite trick for checking hanger alignment at home without the Park Tool gauge, since I'm not dropping $80 just for this.
