Appreciation post: a zip tie fixed a creaky seatpost for me
Had a customer's carbon road bike with a creak that sounded like the bottom bracket. After checking everything, I found it was the seatpost moving slightly inside the frame. Instead of just adding more paste, I put a small zip tie around the post, right at the top of the seat tube, and cut it flush. It acted like a shim and the creak is totally gone. Has anyone else used a zip tie for something like this on a carbon frame?

Totally did that on my own bike last year. I mean, it was driving me nuts and I had a whole pack of ties sitting there. Just wrapped one tight, snipped the end, and it's been silent ever since. Feels like a hack you only learn after wasting a bunch of time on the wrong part.

Sometimes the simplest fix is the one you try last.

Yeah it's like your brain skips over the easy answer. You get so stuck on the idea it has to be some big, hard problem that you just keep digging deeper. I mean, I've spent hours on stuff that ended up being a loose wire or a bad setting. Makes you feel kind of dumb but also relieved when you finally see it.
