Am I the only one who started torquing stems to spec after a demo at a shop in Sacramento
Watched a rep snap a faceplate at 8nm on purpose during a free clinic three months ago and now I keep a small torque wrench in my apron and haven't had a single stripped bolt since, but I'm wondering if anyone else has a moment like that where a live demo flipped their whole process?
Man, I was the guy who just cranked everything by feel for years and figured torque wrenches were for carbon and nothing else. Then I watched a guy at a shop in Denver strip a brand new alloy stem bolt with a normal hex key and he just shrugged like it was normal. Now I run a 5nm wrench on faceplates and bar clamps and I have not rounded a single bolt since. That demo thing sounds like it hits way harder than reading about it online.
