Warning: wasted $150 on a pellet-pellet maze smoker last month
Bought one of those pellet maze smokers for cold smoking cheese and it barely held temp for 2 hours before dying out. Anybody got a cheap hack that actually works for cold smoking without dropping cash on a real unit?

Did yours go out too even after you packed it tight and let it burn for a full hour before adding the cheese? I had the same thing happen with mine last fall. I tried everything from pre-drying the pellets in the oven to stacking them in different patterns, and it still died out after about 90 minutes. The only cheap trick that actually got me through a full cold smoke was using a cheap soldering iron in a tin can with wood chips. It's not fancy but it ran for 6 hours straight with no babysitting.
