Showerthought: Saw a guy in Austin using a garden sprayer for his mop sauce

I was at a cook-off in Austin last weekend and saw a pitmaster using a clean garden sprayer to apply his mop sauce to a whole brisket. It gave him a super even coat without splashing and he said it saved him a ton of time. Anyone else tried something weird like that for applying liquid during a cook?

That's not weird, it's actually pretty common.

Common isn't the same as not weird. Plenty of common things are still deeply strange if you stop and think about them for two seconds. Like putting milk in before the cereal, or making small talk about the weather. Just because everyone does it doesn't make it right.

People get way too defensive about their weird habits. I've been teaching middle schoolers for years and the stuff they think is normal is honestly terrifying sometimes. Like eating hot cheetos with cream cheese at 8am, that's not breakfast that's a cry for help. The cereal thing though, putting milk in first is a rookie mistake and we all know it. But yeah, just because something is common doesn't mean it makes any sense when you actually look at it.
