Old school offset vs my pellet smoker, the smoke ring says it all

Ran a brisket on my pellet rig last Saturday and another on a beat up offset I borrowed from a guy in Denton. The offset put out a deeper bark and that pink ring went way further in, maybe half an inch. I keep my pellet for weeknights but has anyone else gone back to charcoal for the weekend cooks?
