Just hit 100 hours on my offset smoker without a single major flare-up
I've been tracking my cooks since I got this thing, and that number really surprised me... I remember my first few smokes were a constant fight with the fire. The big win was figuring out the exact size of wood chunks my firebox likes, about the size of my fist. It's not about fancy gear, just learning the rhythm of your own pit. Anyone else have a small tweak that made their fire management click?

That's actually really impressive, man. I mean, 100 hours without a flare-up is a huge win. Idk, maybe it's just me but I always heard you want wood chunks a bit smaller than your fist, like the size of a baseball, to get a cleaner burn. Could be totally wrong though, every pit is different for sure.

Man, hearing about 100 hours with no flare-up is no joke, that's a grind. I've been in that spot where a little chunk of wood goes rogue and it's a whole mess, so I feel you on that. @the_taylor knows what's up too, I've seen their posts about burn times and they're always spot on. Keep at it, that consistency is what separates the good cooks from the great ones.

Yeah, you're right about the size, William. I've found baseball-sized chunks burn way cleaner than a whole fist of wood.
