Chose a $40 bullet thermometer over a $200 wifi one for my offset

I ran both side by side on a 12 hour pork butt cook last Sunday and the cheap one tracked the grate temps way better, the wifi one kept dropping connection every time I closed the lid. Anyone else find the fancy ones are more of a hassle than they're worth?
