Unpopular opinion: Deep pots beat daily watering for balcony tomatoes

My balcony tomatoes kept drying out, even with morning and evening water. I found out shallow pots lose moisture quick, so I switched to deeper ones and now they do great with less work. What's your take, is buying deep pots the way to go, or is keeping a tight watering routine better for small spaces?

From your switch to deeper pots, what made the biggest difference?

Glad you asked, Nancy. Honestly, the biggest change was how much less I had to water them. The deeper soil holds moisture way better so the roots aren't drying out in a day like they used to. Dylan265 is right about them thriving, and I bet that consistent moisture is a big part of why. It just lets the plant focus on growing instead of constantly fighting for water.

Totally, my tomatoes thrived after switching to deeper pots too.
