That first balcony tomato from three summers ago still haunts me
I pulled a single Sungold off the vine in July 2021 and it tasted like pure candy. Last week my plants got scalded by a heatwave and I forgot to water for two days. Anyone else's balcony garden just not hitting the same as those early years?

...and I swear that first Sungold changed my brain chemistry forever. What got me back on track was swapping my usual potting mix for one with more perlite and putting a cheap shade cloth over my balcony railing on really hot afternoons. The roots stayed cooler and the soil didn't dry out as fast, last week I actually got a decent harvest again.

Right there with you @lilymurphy. Sungolds ruined all other tomatoes for me too.
