Serious question, did neem oil actually do anything for your balcony peppers or am I wasting $9
I grabbed a bottle of neem oil at the garden center on Sunset in Echo Park back in April because the guy swore it would handle the aphids on my jalapenos. I mixed it at the label dose and sprayed every 7 days for about 5 weeks, and honestly my plants looked worse, some leaves got a greasy film and the aphids just moved to the new growth. So I grabbed ladybugs from the nursery down the street instead, 1,500 of them for $12, and the aphids were gone in 9 days. Has anyone gotten neem to work on a hot balcony, or should I give up on the spray and just buy bugs?
Same thing happened to me two summers ago, greasy leaves and the aphids just laughed and moved to the tips. Every 7 days in that dry heat felt like I was just coating the plant in salad dressing. Those ladybugs are the move, mine cleared my serrano in about a week and a half and stuck around for a bit. Ngl I still keep a bottle under the sink but I only reach for it on cool evenings in early spring now, hot balcony season it does more harm than good. $9 saved is a couple more rounds of bugs.
