Please stop burying your tomato stems, you're rotting them
Watched a neighbor on my floor in Kansas City plant her tomatoes 8 inches deep and the stems turned to mush within 2 weeks. Tomatoes will grow roots along a buried stem, but basil and peppers absolutely will not, so stop treating every seedling the same way. Has anyone actually pulled off deep planting on a windy balcony, or does it just trap moisture in the pot?
