Overheard a neighbor say she waters her balcony tomatoes at 2pm every day and I want to warn her that's going to fry the leaves
Saw her out there with the hose right when the sun was blasting and I figured I should mention it to her before she loses the whole crop, has anyone else had to gently correct a fellow balcony gardener without sounding like a know-it-all?

No my friend tried that exact same thing on her apartment patio last summer, she was all proud of her little tomato plants and then the leaves got all crispy and brown within a week. She thought she was helping by watering them in the heat of the day but it just cooked them worse. She ended up having to trim half the plant back and only got like 3 tiny tomatoes off it the whole season.

Lily_ramirez4 probably could've told her to just water at dawn instead of making sun tea out of those poor tomatoes.
