My neighbor's kid told me my basil was 'sad' and now I'm rethinking my whole setup

She said the leaves were too close together and after looking at a YouTube video she sent me about airflow on a 3 foot balcony, I moved the pots apart by 6 inches and the smell alone convinced me to try that spacing on my cherry tomatoes too, has anyone else had a random tip from a non-gardener actually work out?

Did you see that study about how plants release more scent compounds when they get a little stressed from air movement? I read it somewhere and it stuck with me. Spacing them out basically gives each leaf its own breathing room, like how people space out on a crowded bus. The smell thing is real, I moved my mint away from the wall and suddenly my whole balcony smelled like a mojito. And for tomatoes, yeah, more airflow means less chance of mold on the leaves, my uncle lost a whole crop from not doing that.

Mint by a wall is practically begging to be ignored.
