My neighbor saw my sad basil and asked why I was watering it wrong
I was watering my basil every morning on my Chicago balcony until my neighbor Carol asked why I was drowning it, since she said basil likes to dry out a bit between drinks. I tried her way for 2 weeks and the leaves finally stopped turning yellow, which honestly felt a little embarrassing after 4 months of daily watering. Does anyone else water on a schedule like I did, or do you just stick a finger in the dirt and wing it?
The whole "dry out a bit between drinks" thing is real, I killed like three basil plants before I figured that out lol. Just stick your finger in the dirt about an inch down and water when it feels dry, way easier than trying to remember a schedule.
