Lost 6 tomato plants in one night because I forgot to check the wind forecast
Tuesday was rough. I had 6 cherry tomato plants going strong on my third floor balcony in Sacramento, about 4 feet tall each, and I left the window open thinking it was gonna be a calm night like the whole week before. Around 2am the wind kicked up to like 30 mph and when I went out the next morning every single cage was tipped over, two stems snapped clean off, and one pot had rolled all the way into the railing. Took me a full hour to sweep up the dirt and I still found leaves stuck in the drain holes three days later. Does anyone here weigh down their pots with bricks or is there a better trick for taller plants on a windy balcony?
