Watching a new guy try to troubleshoot a Garmin G1000 nav display with a dirty power supply check

He spent two hours chasing a ghost in the system because he only checked the main bus voltage at 28 volts, not the clean power input to the display itself. I finally grabbed my Fluke and showed him the 5-volt line was dipping to 3.8 under load from a bad regulator. How many shops still skip the step-by-step power quality check before pulling a whole unit? It's a basic thing that saves so much time.

Honestly, that's just how you learn. We've all been that new guy chasing a voltage drop somewhere.

Right? My first week I swapped a whole nav unit before finding a corroded ground strap.

Was it a battery terminal issue or something harder to trace?
