Warning: watched a buddy skip bonding checks on a King Air yesterday

I was helping out at a small hangar in Wichita and noticed a guy I know just slapped a new antenna on without testing the bond. He said it's fine as long as the screws are tight, but I've seen that cause weird static on comms before. Has anyone else run into problems from skipping a bond check on a metal fuselage?

Seen that exact thing happen on a 310 once. Static built up on an unstropped antenna and it fried the comm panel after a lightning strike nearby. Bonding strap is cheap, a new radio isn't. Just checking screw torque doesn't account for paint or corrosion under the base. Grab a cheap milliohm meter and check it real quick - takes about 30 seconds and saves you pulling hair later. That buzzing static on 121.5 will drive you nuts until you ground it right.
