TIL a $40 DMM can beat a $900 one for pin testing on old harnesses
Was chasing an intermittent on a 2005 Cessna 172 harness last week in Tulsa. Pulled out the fancy Fluke 289, spent 2 hours chasing a ghost reading. Co-worker tossed me his cheapo Klein from Harbor Freight. Same pins, solid 2.4 ohm drop that the Fluke was averaging out. Sometimes the fast sample rate hides the breaks you are looking for. Anybody else keep a junk meter around for the slow, dirty readings?
