The old guy in Tulsa who said contact cleaner fixes everything, and one board that proved him right
I spent 3 weeks chasing an intermittent AP disconnect on a King Air 200, swapping line replaceable units and re-pinning two harnesses before I caved and did what the senior tech in Tulsa kept telling me: flood the connector with contact cleaner and work the pins. I figured it was a hack that just masked bad wiring. But the fault came back on the ground test, so I hit the same connector again and actually watched green corrosion weep out of pin 14. Turned out the seal on that cannon plug had been letting moisture sit in there for years, and the cleaner was the only way to see it. Sent the plane out clean and it stayed gone for 8 months until the plug got replaced on the next heavy check. Has anyone else had a connector look fine until you flushed it and saw what was really inside?
