Spent $240 on a used IFR-4000 and it finally paid for itself this week
Picked up a used IFR-4000 ramp test set at a swap meet in Wichita back in March for $240, and I was starting to wonder if I had burned that money. But this week I used it to chase down a transponder issue on a Cessna 172 that two other guys had already looked at and given up on. The problem turned out to be a weak reply pulse that only showed up under load, and the test set caught it in about ten minutes flat. Saved the customer a second trip and a lot of guesswork, so the thing basically paid for itself in one job. Curious what test gear you all consider worth the money and what turned out to be a paperweight.
