Serious question about pin repair, why is everyone so quick to swap boards?

Got called out by an old lead at a regional outfit in Denver last month for pulling an ARINC 429 board over a bent pin, and he spent 20 minutes showing me it was just a matter of careful straightening and a continuity check after. I've always leaned on swapping parts to keep the schedule moving, but he argued that creates more downtime and cost over time, and honestly the fix took 15 minutes versus the 4 hours to source and reinstall. Am I missing something, or is the swap-heavy approach just a liability thing that everyone else has accepted?
