PSA: Old terminal block cleaning trick still works like a charm

Had a corroded terminal block on a 727 nav unit last month. Tried contact cleaner twice, no luck. An old guy told me to use a pencil eraser on the contacts - cleared the oxidation right up. Anyone else got an old school fix that still beats the fancy stuff?
