Old Navy tech said never trust the test box until you check the pins yourself
Back in 2004, I was working a line replaceable unit swap on a 737 in Phoenix. The test box showed the new unit good to go. The senior tech, guy named Dave who had been doing avionics since the 70s, told me to pull the cannon plug and probe each pin with my multimeter before buttoning it up.
I thought he was being paranoid. The test box literally said PASS. But I did it anyway because he was the kind of guy who would make you redo it if you skipped steps. Found out pin 14 had a loose socket, the wire was barely hanging on. Would have passed the box test but failed as soon as the plane saw vibration.
That was 20 years ago and I still check every pin on every plug, no exceptions. Has anyone else had a test box give a false good reading that only showed up on a manual probe?

Man, twenty years of probing every pin sounds like overkill when a wiggle test catches that loose socket in seconds.
