Just learned a 777 has over 150,000 wire segments and I can't stop thinking about it
I was digging through the maintenance manual for a 777 harness job at our hangar in Fort Worth and a line in the intro section stopped me cold. It says the airframe has more than 150,000 individual wire segments, which works out to something like 500 miles of wire if you laid it end to end. I spent the rest of the shift thinking about how one bad chafe somewhere in that 500 miles can take down a system you'd never expect. How do you all keep track of wire routing on bigger jobs, do you lean on the manuals or just map it out yourself?
