I finally quit chasing intermittent faults with a multimeter and got a $60 breakout box
Chasing a flaky comm wire on a King Air in Baton Rouge ate 11 hours of my week until I built a little breakout harness with labeled pins and saw the bad crimp in 15 minutes. Anybody else got a cheap tool that made them feel dumb for waiting so long?
That "saw the bad crimp in 15 minutes" part hits home. I spent a whole afternoon once chasing a no-start on a generator and it turned out the battery terminal was just loose, felt pretty dumb after all that testing. Cheap tools that save you like that are worth every penny.
