Heat shrink vs. friction tape on cannon plugs, I switched sides
I used to just wrap cannon plugs with friction tape on the bench, thought it was fine. But last month during a flap motor swap on a Cessna 172, the tape slipped and I had to redo the whole bundle. Tried heat shrink with an adhesive liner instead, and it held up way better on the -40C runs we do at the hangar in Anchorage. Now I carry a cordless heat gun in my box and it cuts my rework time nearly in half. Anyone else ditched tape for shrink on high-vibration spots, or is there a trick to keep tape from creeping that I missed?
