Dropped $600 on a fancy spectrum analyzer last spring

Bought a used Anritsu off eBay thinking it'd save me hours on RF troubleshooting. Thing needed factory calibration that cost almost as much. Anyone else get burned on used test gear?

Honestly, that sounds rough, but is a factory cal really that big of a deal?

Are you kidding me right now? Factory calibration is the entire reason these things cost thousands of dollars and not fifty bucks! You don't just eyeball it and hope for the best when you're pulling gear down a mountain or landing a chopper on a dime. One missed detail could total your equipment or worse, get somebody hurt. It's not like tweaking a bass knob on a car stereo, it's a fundamental safety step.
