Cyclic restart loop on a Bell 407 took 3 hours to trace
Last month in Tucson we had an MD500 that kept resetting the VMS every time the pilot hit the collective. Pulled the whole wire bundle and checked grounds. Nothing. Finally traced it to a chafed shielded pair running behind the battery box. The shield was grounding out intermittent on hard bumps. Cost the customer 3 hours of labor plus a $14 repair part. Now I double-check every shield termination point before I chase ghosts. Anyone else got a favorite spot where wire chafing hides that takes forever to find?
