Caught myself using the wrong pin crimper for D-sub connectors after 3 years

Last week I noticed a batch of intermittent readings on a test bench and a senior tech pointed out the little divot my crimper was leaving on the pins, which I had never even looked for before, has anyone else had a bad habit with a tool they just assumed was correct?

You ever have a buddy who used a hammer as a screwdriver for two years because he couldn't find the right tool? I swear he only figured it out when the screw head stripped and his coworker just stared at him.

Heard a guy on a podcast talking about how he used the wrong crimper for years on those tiny molex connectors. Said he never knew until a connector just fell apart one day.
