A bird's nest in a static port almost got me fired on Tuesday
I was doing a pre-flight check on a Cessna 172 that had been sitting for three days, and the airspeed indicator was reading zero on the ground. I pulled the panel, checked the lines, nothing. My boss was watching and getting mad. Finally, I shined a light in the static port and saw a perfect little nest made of grass and twigs blocking it. I guess a bird thought it was a great spot. Ever have a critter cause a fault that made you look dumb?

That perfect little nest is the worst kind of sabotage.

Know exactly what you mean, @elliotw37. I'll spend an hour making my desk look like a minimalist catalog photo, then can't bring myself to mess it up by actually working. It just sits there, judging me. My own need for order becomes the best excuse to avoid starting anything. That pristine setup is a trap, and I built it myself every single time.
