Tried plasti-dipping my emblems and it peeled off in a week

I followed all the prep steps, did 5 coats, waited 24 hours before driving. A week later it was flaking off at the car wash. Has anyone else had better luck with a different brand for blacking out badges?

I followed all the prep steps" except maybe the one where you didn't actually read the back of the can? I swear plasti-dip is just fancy rubber cement that LOOKS good until you hit it with a pressure washer. Save yourself the headache and just buy pre-painted badges, they'll probably stay on longer than your patience.

nah but see @robertsmith thats where i gotta push back a little. plasti-dip is awesome if you do it right, which most people dont. the trick is like 5 or 6 light coats not one thick one, and you gotta let it cure for at least 24 hours before you even think about touching it. i dipped my emblems three years ago and they still look brand new, i literally pressure wash my car every week and nothing has peeled. pre-painted badges are expensive and they still chip or fade over time. if your dip is peeling off that fast you probably put it on too thick or didnt clean the surface with alcohol first. there's a learning curve for sure but once you figure it out its way cheaper and you can change colors whenever you want.
