Torque specs in the manual vs what the dealership actually uses

I found out last month that the lug nut torque spec in my truck's manual is 10 ft-lbs lower than what the local dealership sets them to. Checked with three different techs and they all said the same thing, so the manual is more of a suggestion. Has anyone else run into specs that just don't match real world practice?
