TIL my exhaust note chart hit 112 dB in the driveway and my neighbor was not impressed
So I got one of those cheap dB meters off the auction site about 3 weeks ago and started logging my car after every change I make to the exhaust. Last Saturday I finally swapped in the resonator delete pipe I had sitting in the garage since April. Took it out on the empty road behind the old Kmart lot here in Asheville and the meter read 112 dB at 3 feet from the tip at idle. I honestly thought it would be way lower, maybe 95 or so, because inside the car it doesn't feel that much louder than stock. That number kind of woke me up because the town noise code around here kicks in somewhere near 95 and I had no clue I was that far over. The weird part is the butt dyno says it pulls a little harder up top but my ears are ringing after a 20 minute drive. Now I'm second guessing the whole straight pipe plan I had for next month. Has anyone actually measured their setup before and been shocked by the number, or am I the only one who had no idea how loud 112 really is?
